Our Story, Our Mission, Our Heart

Women of the Well exists because we believe no woman is too far gone and no one should walk the road to recovery alone.

The Story Behind the Name

She came to the Well

In the Gospel of John Chapter Four, a woman walks to a well in the heat of the day. Alone. She goes at noon - not in the cool of the morning when everyone else draws water - because she is ashamed. She has a past she cannot outrun, a life that has not gone the way she had hoped, and a thirst she does not know how to name.

Jesus is waiting at the well. He does not look past her. He does not lower his voice. He sees her - fully, truly and offers her something she has never had: Living Water. Water that satisfies. A New Beginning. A New Identity.

That is the story that names us. And that is exactly who we serve.

The women who find their way to Women of the Well often arrive the same way -mid-day, alone, weighed down by addiction, trauma, and shame. WE believe Jesus is still waiting at the well. And we intend to be there too.

"Come to the Well. Leave transformed."

Mission and Vision

Our Mission

To empower women overcoming addiction, abuse, and trauma by providing a safe, structured, Christ-centered environment for spiritual healing, personal growth, and lasting transformation. We guide each resident on a journey to rediscover her self-worth, rebuild her identity in Christ, and gain the life skills necessary to lead a healthy, purposeful, and independent life.

Our Vision

To become a leading pillar of restoration in Georgia's recovery community - serving 50 or more Women each year, reducing relapse, supporting family reunification, and advocating for Christ-centered recovery across North Georgia and beyond.

Our Five Core Values

Everything we do - every policy, every program, every conversation - flows from these five values.

Christ-Centered Healing

We believe complete and lasting freedom from addiction is only found through a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ. Biblical principles, prayer, scripture, and spiritual development are not add-ons to our program - they are the foundation of it. Healing is not just physical sobriety. It is a spiritual awakening and a renewal of the whole person.

100% Abstinence

We maintain a zero-tolerance standard for all mood-and mind-altering substances. This is not a rule for its own sake - it is a boundary that protects the safety, trust, and healing of every woman in our community. Every resident deserves an environment where she can be fully present in her recovery.

Holistic Transformation - Body, Mind, and Soul

True recovery attends to the whole person. We nurture the soul through worship and discipleship, the mind through counseling and trauma-informed care, and the body through nutrition, fitness, and responsible medical support. Every part of who she is matters to us.

Accountability

We foster a culture of honest, personal accountability. Residents take ownership of their actions, their attitudes, and their recovery journey - supported by peer mentoring, weekly progress check-ins, and consistent, caring guidance from staff and mentors.

Community Service

Healing is found not only in receiving, but in giving. Every resident participates in community service as a part of her program. Serving others shifts the focus from self to others, builds empathy, instills humility, and prepares women to return to their communities as strong, contributing members.

Who We Serve

Women of the Well serves women 18 years and older who are navigating the hardest season of their lives. We specifically focus on:

  • Women struggling with substance use disorder and addiction
  • Women who have experienced abuse, domestic violence, or complex trauma
  • Women transitioning out of incarceration and rebuilding their lives
  • Women in rural and underserved areas of North Georgia who have nowhere else to turn

We give priority to low-income women and those facing the greatest barriers to accessing care. A comprehensive scholarship program ensures that finances are never the reason a woman cannot begin her recovery.

These are not women who have failed. They are women who deserve a fighting chance - and a community that will stand with them while they take it.

Leadership and Governance

Women of the Well Recovery Center is governed by a Board of Directors of 7 to 13 members serving three-year terms. Our board is not just organizational - it is personal.

A minimum of 51% of our board members must have lived recovery experience. We are led by people who understand what it means to walk through the darkness and come out on the other side. That is not a requirement we meet reluctantly - it is a source of deep strength and credibility for everything we do.

Our board includes representation from key referral and community partners, ensuring that we stay grounded in the real needs of the women and communities we serve.

We adhere strictly to a Conflict of Interest Policy reviewed annually and we maintain full compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (confidentiality of patient records) and UPMIFA (management of institutional funds). We are actively pursuing certification from GARR and THOR - the leading recovery residence standard bodies in Georgia.
